Prince William breaks silence on Harry in candid documentary
In just a few days, Canadians will be able to watch a documentary film addressing the problem of homelessness from the perspective of the future monarch. Prince William reflects on his childhood, discussing the valuable lessons he learned from his family home. At one point, he refers to his brother.
The fraternal conflict between the sons of King Charles III has been ongoing for several years, and there seems to be no resolution in sight. Contrary to reports from "The Sun" a few months ago, the entry of Meghan Markle into the previously orderly life of the royal family only intensified their earlier animosities. In reality, Prince William and Prince Harry were reportedly divided by differing visions regarding how to gradually combat poaching in Africa. Regardless of which version reflects the true source of the dispute, the wife of the red-haired aristocrat still insists that she has been the most wronged in this whole situation.
Meanwhile, as calculated by the editors of the "Daily Mail," the future king has not mentioned his younger brother even once in six years. This situation changed with the premiere of the documentary film "Prince William: We Can End Homelessness," dedicated to the fight against homelessness. Last year, the heir to the throne initiated the Homewards project, which aims to eliminate this problem in the United Kingdom within the next five years.
Prince William spoke about Harry
The Prince of Wales admitted that he faced this difficult subject from a parent's perspective when his children asked about people sleeping on the streets they saw on their way to school. He recalled the times when he observed the world through the eyes of a young boy, equally curious about the world.
When you are that small you are just curious and trying to work out what’s going on. You ask the question ‘why are they sitting there?’ My mother would talk to us a bit about why they were there and it definitely made a really big impact - with these words, Prince William described his first encounter with people affected by the homelessness crisis.
Princess Diana took her sons to homeless shelters to show them the realities of life outside the palace. The documentary presented previously unpublished photos from their family archive. You can see, among others, an almost 11-year-old prince playing a chess match with a man staying at a centre in the Westminster district of London.
My mother took me to The Passage. She took Harry and I both there. I must have been about 11, I think, probably, at the time. Maybe 10. I’d never been to anything like that before. And I was a bit anxious as to what to expect. My mother went about her usual part of making everyone feel relaxed, and having a laugh and joking with everyone - William recalled with a smile on his face.
British media noted this was the first public mention of his brother's name since 2018, when Harry and William, along with their wives, gave an interview during the Royal Foundation Forum.
Do you think they'll be able to reconcile?
