According to Vatican sources in an evening communiqué, Pope Francis's health has shown improvement.

Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that Francis, who has bilateral pneumonia, is continuing with oxygen therapy and sitting up in a chair. He is in good spirits.

It was noted that the Pope "is aware of what is happening, especially concerning the prayer initiatives of the faithful" on his behalf.

The daily rosary prayer for the Pope's health will be led on Thursday at 3 p.m. (Eastern Time) in St. Peter's Square by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Baldassare Reina.

Francis at the Gemelli clinic

The Pope was admitted to the Gemelli Clinic on 14 February. At that time, it was reported that he was suffering from bronchitis. Later, it developed into bilateral pneumonia.

Initially, it was planned that the Pope would remain at the Gemelli Polyclinic until 2 March. However, his health deteriorated, and doctors only recently reported a slight improvement. Even after returning to the Vatican, Francis will require prolonged treatment.
