Although facing health issues related to bronchitis, Pope Francis chose not to forgo his participation in the Vatican's general audience. Rather than reading the catechesis himself, he delegated this responsibility to an associate. "Me, with my bronchitis, I cannot (read) still," the Pope said, expressing hope that he would soon be able to resume his duties.

During the audience, Pope Francis urged the faithful to engage in prayer and penance for peace, highlighting numerous countries where armed conflicts persist. He emphasized that "war is always a defeat." The Pope stressed that people are not meant for violence but for building and nurturing the growth of nations.

Let us not forget the martyred Ukraine. Let us not forget Myanmar, South Sudan, North Kivu, and so many countries that are at war, urged Francis, as quoted by the Polish Press Agency.

Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis continues his global peace advocacy, calling on the faithful to pray and take action to end armed conflicts. His words, imbued with concern and hope, are directed to all who long for peace and a better future for all humanity.
