Concerns about the reduction or complete suspension of American support for Ukraine—to force Kyiv into peace negotiations with Moscow—are growing in Europe following Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections.
These concerns are heightened by the fact that the outgoing administration of Joe Biden has announced its intention to use all the resources allocated by the U.S. Congress in April to aid Ukraine by the end of its term. Furthermore, it plans to forgive over $4.5 billion of debt from a loan provided to Ukraine with funds given to the administration by Congress.
Can Europe handle the war in Ukraine without U.S. help?
"In your opinion, is Europe capable of providing Ukraine with sufficient support to resist Russia without U.S. help?" - This question was posed to participants of the SW Research survey for rp.pl.
Only 16.6 percent of Poles believe that Europe can provide sufficient support to Ukraine without U.S. help. 59 percent of respondents disagree, and 24.4 percent have no opinion on the matter.
The survey was conducted by SW Research between November 19-20 on a group of 800 internet users over the age of 18 via the SW Panel online platform.
