Polish and allied forces heighten air defences amid Russian attacks on Ukraine
"Attention, due to the attack by the Russian Federation targeting facilities, including those in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation operations have commenced in our airspace," stated the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
Across all of Ukraine, shortly before 1:00 AM ET, air raid sirens sounded. The Russians deployed strategic bombers and MiG-31 fighters.
Because of Russia's assault on Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation activities have begun in our airspace.
"Following established procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces activated all available forces and resources at his disposal. Standby fighter pairs were scrambled, and ground air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness," reported the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
"The actions aimed to ensure safety in regions bordering threatened areas. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces closely monitors the current situation, and the forces and resources under its command remain fully prepared for an immediate response," added the communiqué.
