The new tires from Pirelli are part of the Cinturato P7 series, which originated in the WRC rallies of the '70s. These were Pirelli's first tires with an ultra-low profile, initially created for rally cars and later adapted for road models. For the Ferrari 288 GTO, the tires are available in their original sizes: 225/50 R16 for the front axle and 265/50 R16 for the rear. Although additional photos have not been released, Emanuelle Vanzetti, an engineer for Pirelli's Collezione program, stated that the tires' appearance is "100% consistent with the original," and their driving characteristics and style closely replicate the original.
Prices for the new GTO tires have not been disclosed, but owners of this model likely do not need to worry about costs. Other flagship Ferrari models also have dedicated Pirelli tires. The F40 is available with a set of P Zero tires in size 245/40 R17 at the front and 335/35 R17 at the rear, while the 349 units of the F50 come with P Zero Corsa tires in dimensions 245/35 R18 on the front axle and 335/30 R18 on the rear. With a limited production of 400 units, the Enzo uses larger P Zero Corsa tires—245/35 R19 at the front and 345/35 R19 at the rear. The latest generation of Ferrari's flagship supercars, the LaFerrari and its open version, the Aperta, are equipped with P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 tires.
Pirelli's efforts confirm their close collaboration with Ferrari and demonstrate a dedication to the finest details. They preserve the original character of these vehicles while simultaneously enhancing their performance on the road.
