What this young athlete did can be a model for many of us. His priority was to repay his parents because, in his opinion, it was thanks to them that he achieved so much.

Pavin Smith's parents will never forget these holidays. In 2017, he received his first paycheck. It wasn’t small, amounting to CAD 6.9 million. It was a contractual amount since the 21-year-old was recruited by the Arizona Diamondbacks, a team from the West Division of the National League.

Contrary to appearances, Pavin had no dilemma about what to do with the money. He used the entire amount to pay off his parents' mortgage. And he did it not just at any time but during Christmas.

The athlete wrote a letter to his parents. "For me to be here, where I am now, you decided to make a lot of sacrifices"

Five million dollars would have been more than enough for the young athlete to buy his own apartment, a fancy car, or live a luxurious life. But instead, he chose an extraordinary gesture towards his parents. He wrote them a letter informing them that he was paying off their entire mortgage.

Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love. Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be yours - wrote the 21-year-old.

Smith added that even paying off the entire mortgage is not enough to show his gratitude to his parents for what they did and sacrificed for him.

Today, seven years later, Pavin Smith still plays baseball, has a beautiful wife, and recently had a baby daughter. In retrospect, it seems he has no regrets. On the contrary, he is happy with where he ended up and still appreciates everything his parents did for him.
