On Friday, the editorial committee of The New York Times, one of the world's most influential liberal newspapers, called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the upcoming presidential election.

This appeal was published in Friday's evening edition of the newspaper in an editorial titled "For the good of the country, President Biden should withdraw from the race." In this article, the authors stated that during Thursday's debate with Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party, Biden "was a shadow of a leader."
The editorial authors wrote: "Mr. Biden has been an admirable president. Under his leadership, the country prospered and began to take on a series of long-term challenges... But the greatest public service he could provide today would be to announce that he will not run in the election."
Biden's tragic debate
During Thursday's debate, Biden often appeared confused, stumbled over his words, mixed up millions with billions, spoke quietly and sometimes unintelligibly, sometimes did not finish sentences, and stared blankly into space.
The "NYT" editorial committee consists of leading columnists and commentators of the newspaper. Among them is Thomas Friedman, a writer and columnist, who previously expressed a similar position in the NYT.
Despite the appeal from The New York Times, Biden assured us at Friday's campaign rally that he had no intention of withdrawing from the presidential race. He stated that although he does not perform as well in debates as he once did, he is capable of fulfilling the duties of the presidency.
On the same day, Biden received support from two of his Democratic predecessors in the presidency - Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Both expressed their support for his candidacy, which could be significant in the upcoming election.
