Norwegian royal stepson admits guilt in drug-fueled assault

A few days ago, shocking reports surfaced in the media regarding the scandalous behaviour of Norway's heir apparent's stepson. Marius Borg Høiby admitted to committing a crime. As he confessed, his aggressive behaviour was mainly due to the abuse of dangerous substances.

Mette-Marit entered Prince Haakon's life in her early twenties. Despite her difficult past, poor education, and toxic relationship with a drug dealer, which ended with the birth of their son, she was sincerely loved by the young aristocrat. His parents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, who initially opposed this love, only accepted the former waitress raising an illegitimate child after several years.

Despite growing up in the royal court, Marius Borg Høiby defied its rules, forging his own path. The 27-year-old, who previously worked as a car mechanic, has had several failed relationships, the last of which ended in a tremendous scandal. At the beginning of August, the stepson of Norway's future king brutally attacked his girlfriend in her home.

After receiving the notification, the officers immediately detained the young man, who spent 30 hours in police custody. After a few days of freedom, he finally decided to speak out. He issued a statement, which he sent to the magazine's editorial office "Se og Hør," admitting his guilt.

Last week something happened that should never have happened. I committed bodily harm and destroyed objects in an apartment while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine after an argument - he announced in the press.

Marius Borg Høiby admitted that at that moment he had no control over his behaviour. At the time of the attack, he was intoxicated. Earlier, he had also used cocaine.

The drug use and my diagnoses do not excuse what happened in the apartment at Frogner on the night of Sunday last weekend. I want to be responsible for what I have done, and will explain myself truthfully to the police - declared the son of the Norwegian princess.

Høiby directed important words to his loved ones

Prince Haakon's stepson wants to make amends for his wrongdoings. He is fully aware of the harm he caused his girlfriend, who, as a result of the incident, was taken to the hospital with a suspected concussion. During a visit to the police station, Rebecca Helberg Arntsen reportedly testified that her probable former partner "hit her a hundred times" and painfully choked her.

For me, the most important thing is to say sorry to my girlfriend. She deserved neither what happened that night, nor the extreme pressure from both the Norwegian and foreign press afterwards - conveyed Marius Borg Høiby.

The 27-year-old also expressed remorse towards his family. He also declared his complete surrender to the police.
