"Cruise missiles, potentially Kh-101, were fired around 10 PM from Tu-95MS strategic bombers based in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation. These missiles reached the Kyiv area after complicated maneuvers from the south. Simultaneously, the enemy also launched KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles towards the capital," reads a statement from Kyiv's administration regarding the Russian attack.
According to preliminary estimates, Ukrainian air defence intercepted several cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and kamikaze drones in the airspace above the capital.
No casualties in Kyiv
Falling debris caused fires in several locations in Kyiv. Thick black smoke was visible over the Holosiiv district. Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that a boiler room was partially destroyed there. Entrance elements to the Sviatoshyn metro station were also damaged. Four cars burned in this district as well.
Channel24 reports that, according to information from city authorities, no casualties were reported due to the shelling.
