Nigel Farage regularly makes headlines with his controversial statements. This time, the British politician, nicknamed the "godfather of Brexit," fell victim to a controversial prank.
Activists from the group "Led By Donkeys" decided to respond to the politician's praise of the Russian dictator. In an interview with the BBC, Farage stated that the West and NATO "provoked" the Russian invasion.
In a video posted on social media, you can see the banner with the image of Vladimir Putin slowly descending from the ceiling. The Russian dictator is giving a thumbs-up, and the banner reads: "I love Nigel".
We just dropped in on Farage's election rally with a beaming picture of Putin. Nigel was not pleased – read the post from the "Led by Donkeys" group on platform X.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 29. The Reform UK leader was speaking on stage in the small seaside town of Walton-on-the-Naze – about 100 kilometres from London.
When Farage finally noticed the banner, he asked the audience: "Who put that out there? Someone at the Columbine Centre should be sacked." His supporters were outraged and demanded the image of Putin be destroyed. Two men tried to take down the banner but were unsuccessful. At this point, the video cuts off.
Nigel Farage is currently campaigning. On July 4, in Great Britain, parliamentary elections will be held. His party, Reform UK, has received 15-20% support in recent polls. However, due to the electoral system in the House of Commons, the party will win a few seats at most.
