New Orleans attack fuels Trump's controversial claims

The massacre in New Orleans has become another reason for President-elect Donald Trump to attack immigrants coming to the U.S., as expressed in his statement. However, there is currently no information proving that the perpetrator was indeed an immigrant.

Early Wednesday morning, on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a white pickup truck—a Ford F-150—plowed into a crowd on the street with force. At least 10 people were killed, and 35 were injured, according to the latest information.

The perpetrator of this massacre engaged in a gunfight with officers and was killed on the spot, reported the New Orleans police.

"When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!" Donald Trump said in his statement posted on the "True Social" platform.

Police do not provide information about the attacker

Where did the assumption that the perpetrator of the massacre in New Orleans was an "incoming criminal," in other words—an immigrant, come from? This is unknown. Police do not currently provide any information about the perpetrator.

However, CNN has established, citing two law enforcement sources, that the attacker had an ISIS flag with him at the time of the incident. CBS News, citing its informants, reported that the attacker has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar.

A Fox News journalist reported on the X platform that the man was born and raised in Texas and that he served in the American army.

As reported by NBC, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating his links to ISIS.

Fox News reporters learned that the vehicle used in the attack had a Texas license plate and that it was "tracked crossing the southern U.S. border at Eagle Pass, Texas, two days before the attack."

It has not been confirmed, however, that the assailant was driving the vehicle when it crossed the border. Police also have not confirmed that the attacker was an immigrant.

Biden: We will not tolerate an attack on any of our nation's communities

The departing President Joe Biden also spoke on the attack in New Orleans.

"I am grateful for the brave and swift response of local law enforcement in preventing even greater death and injury. I have directed my team to ensure every resource is available as federal, state, and local law enforcement work assiduously to get to the bottom of what happened as quickly as possible and to ensure that there is no remaining threat of any kind," Biden declared in a statement issued by the White House.

He noted that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is treating the attack in New Orleans as an act of terror, and expressed solidarity with the victims and their loved ones, "who were simply celebrating the New Year."

"There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities," added the president.
