Snails in the garden can be troublesome and cause significant damage. Unfortunately, fighting them is not easy. However, there are ways to tackle the problem.

Many garden owners have persistent problems with snails. The worst are slugs (Limacidae), which are shell-less. They appear in our gardens right after winter ends and stay there until autumn.

These snails can cause considerable damage by destroying fruits, vegetables, and shrubs. They gnaw on the stems, tubers, and leaves of plants, which leads to their slow death. How can you get rid of them? There are proven methods for this.

Many people use table salt, which is an effective method, but it can damage crops. Large amounts of salt can cause an accumulation of sodium, which weakens the plant's ability to absorb nutrients and water, inhibits flowering, and increases the risk of diseases.

So, how can you effectively and safely tackle the problem? Well, basalt flour, which is powdered basalt rock, works perfectly here. Due to its rich composition and high content of valuable microelements, it is used as a fertilizer. Moreover, it also fights aphids and ants.

Its action works in a way that it coats the pests, making it difficult for them to move and breathe. Additionally, the copper content effectively repels snails, working similarly to copper tape.

Cinnamon is also great for fighting snails, as these mollusks cannot stand its smell. So, when you sprinkle the spice around the plants, there is a good chance they will find another place to feed.

Eggshells and garlic are also effective in the fight against snails.
