A bald head with a colourful mohawk on top, a leather jacket covered in studs, plaid pants, and heavy boots is how Matt Smith appears on the set of the latest film directed by Darren Aronofsky, "Caught Stealing." The production, which will premiere in 2025, is a crime thriller based on a book by Charlie Huston.
The first photos from the set featuring a completely transformed Matt have hit the web. A stellar cast, including Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, and Regina King, joins Smith.
Smith owes his greatest popularity to roles such as "Doctor Who," Prince Philip in Netflix's "The Crown," and Prince Daemon Targaryen in "House of the Dragon," which are available on the Max platform. However, his latest role significantly deviates from the image of previous ones, where he sported neat hairstyles and elegant clothes.
The film will focus on the story of Hank Thompson (played by Butler), a former baseball player who accidentally gets entangled in a fight for survival in the criminal underworld of 1990s New York. It has not yet been revealed exactly whom Smith will portray. Based on his appearance, we can only assume it will be a character deeply rooted in punk culture.
Fans who have already seen Smith's transformation on social media are full of admiration. "If anyone looks good in a mohawk, it's Matt Smith," and "What a chameleon," write netizens.
