Spanish press reported on Tuesday (October 1) that a court in Madrid awarded compensation to the woman whose ex-partner deprived her of the ability to see their dog. The man, against her will, took full custody of the pet, preventing the woman from contacting the animal.

The capital court valued the woman's moral damage at CAD 870, and her ex-partner was also burdened with the costs of the court proceedings.

The ruling noted that an intense sentimental bond developed between the woman and the dog, as they had lived together since it was a puppy.

This is the first such ruling by a Spanish court - emphasizes the newspaper "El Pais." The judiciary ruled on the adoption of pets in a similar way to that of children, prioritizing the interest and welfare of the animal - adds the Spanish newspaper.
