Macron convenes European leaders for security talks in Paris
An extraordinary summit convened by Emmanuel Macron has begun in Paris. The President of France invited European leaders to discuss security issues on the continent. He made the decision on Saturday following suggestions from the United States that Europe would be excluded from talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
At 4 PM Emmanuel Macron welcomed the first guests.
As informed earlier by the French president’s aides, the summit is attended by, among others, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Prime ministers of Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Italy, and the United Kingdom also confirmed their attendance. The goal of this informal summit is to gather partners interested in peace and security in Europe.
