The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, emphasized the necessity of cooperation with the United States to protect "the interests of Ukraine, its sovereignty and the interests of the Europeans and their security." He added that in the coming months the United States will play a new role.
- We must work closely with the USA, of course in close contact with Ukraine, to find a solution that considers Ukraine's interests and the sovereignty of that country - said Macron after a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, which took place on Thursday in Warsaw at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
Macron stressed that lasting security for Ukraine is crucial for the security of the whole of Europe. He pointed to the necessity of providing Ukraine with appropriate security guarantees in the future.
President Macron recalled the recent trilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which a "new role for the United States in the upcoming weeks and months" was discussed.
Macron praised Trump, mentioned Ukraine
He thanked U.S. President Joe Biden's administration for "support from the very beginning" and added that the Trump administration also expressed a willingness to work towards ending the conflict.
- So we must work closely with the USA, of course in close contact with Ukraine, to find a solution that considers Ukraine's interests and the sovereignty of that country - Macron repeated, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation on this issue.
The President of France also agreed with Prime Minister Tusk, saying that "no one other than France will decide what France will do, just as no one other than Poland will decide what Poland will do".
