"American Psycho" was released in cinemas in 2000. Christian Bale, in the role of a bored man who begins murdering people, delivered a stellar performance—it must be admitted. The film is iconic—even without watching it, one can recognize the frames and individual scenes. The main character, Patrick Bateman, although a massive red flag in terms of favourite film characters, is also a pop culture phenomenon and a timeless inspiration for Halloween costumes.

Some might ask whether a new adaptation of "American Psycho" is necessary after just over 20 years. The answer might surprise: the film directed by Luca Guadagnino ("Call Me by Your Name," "Suspiria," "Bones and All," "Challengers") will not be a remake. The Italian director has announced that he will create an entirely new adaptation of the book by Bret Easton Ellis.

Who will play the new Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho"?

The film will be produced for the studio Lionsgate, just like the 2000 version. However, there is still not much information about the upcoming production. "Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary to create a whole new interpretation of this potent and classic IP," stated Adam Fogelson from Lionsgate.

Internet users are already speculating about who will be cast as the new Patrick Bateman. Most are betting on Jacob Elordi, who is currently one of the most popular young actors.

"Okay, now all I need to see is Austin Butler, Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, Tom Blyth, and Dylan O'Brien fighting to the death for this role," reads one of the online comments.
