For many years, Geoff Capes provided fans with unforgettable excitement. He began his athletic career in track and field, specializing in shot put. As a representative of Great Britain in this discipline, he achieved considerable success, winning as many as nine medals during his career.

One of those medals, a silver, was won during the European Indoor Championships in Katowice in 1975. At the age of 75, he had the honour of representing his country at the Olympics three times. After ending his track and field career, Capes focused on strength sports. He won the title of World's Strongest Man twice, triumphing in these prestigious competitions in 1983 and 1985. After ending his professional career, the Brit shared his extensive knowledge and experience with younger athletes, helping them improve their skills.

The information about the Olympian's death appeared in the British media on Wednesday, October 23rd at 3:00 PM (ET). His family conveyed this tragic news in a conversation with journalists. At the same time, they issued a statement on social media, recalling his outstanding sports achievements.

Furthermore, there were posts from many icons of strength sports on social media. One of the most popular strongmen in the world, Eddie Hall, who in 2017 claimed the title of "World's Strongest Man," paid tribute to the deceased strongman, explaining that Capes' career paved the way for his journey in sports.

He paved the way for athletes like me, showing that British strength and determination can conquer the world. Geoff was an inspiration to many of us as we grew up, and his incredible achievements and character left a lasting mark on our community. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of strongmen and athletes around the world. Rest in peace, big man. You will always be remembered as one of the greatest - wrote Eddie Hall.
