- Heavy snowfall and winds reaching speeds of 113 kilometres per hour forced the cancellation of more than 300 flights at the international airport located on Jeju Island, known as the Hawaii of South Korea. Airport authorities also reported that a total of 58 domestic and international flights were delayed, noting that the weather disrupted plans for over 20,000 travellers who were stranded on the island.
- Two tourists have died from suspected pesticide poisoning after their hostel in Sri Lanka was fumigated for bedbugs, reported local police, as quoted by CNN. The victims were 24-year-old Briton Ebony McIntosh and 26-year-old German Nadine Raguse. An autopsy for McIntosh, aimed at determining the cause of death, will be conducted on Monday when the deceased's family arrives on the island, reported the British news agency PA Media. Sri Lankan police stated that until then, the hostel will remain closed.
- The wreckage of the Bering Air plane, which went missing on Thursday in Alaska, was found. All passengers and the pilot perished. At the time of the crash, there were a total of 10 people on board the plane.
- Officers of the Brazilian police arrested two men in the Brasília metropolitan area, the capital of the country, who were suspected of murdering their former employer. The murdered entrepreneur had fired them from work a few weeks earlier, reported police services. Quoted by capital media, police chief Ricardo Viana stated that the men seeking revenge staged a breakdown with a rented motorcycle on one of the roads in the northern suburbs of Brasília, then called their former boss to repair the defect. After luring the entrepreneur, the attackers fired several shots in his direction and then hid the body.
- Anti-government protests were organized on Friday evening in more than 50 cities in Slovakia. According to organizers, over 40,000 people gathered in the country’s capital, Bratislava. Around 100,000 people participated nationwide. The call for Prime Minister Robert Fico to resign was reiterated.
