Trump revokes Biden’s intelligence access, citing security risk
The U.S. President, Donald Trump, announced that he has revoked his predecessor Joe Biden’s access to classified information and daily intelligence briefings. This decision comes as a response to a similar action taken by Biden in 2021.
"There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings," Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
Trump highlighted that Biden had previously acted similarly towards him, breaking the longstanding custom. In his post on Truth Social, Trump referred to Special Counsel Robert Hur's report, which investigated the issue of classified documents that were unintentionally held by Biden. Hur concluded that Biden suffers from "poor memory" and even in his "prime" cannot be entrusted with confidential information.
"I will always protect our National Security - JOE, YOU’RE FIRED!" added the U.S. President.
It is worth noting that Trump himself was investigated for retaining secret documents, including those concerning nuclear weapons. Despite the charges, the case was dismissed after the electoral victory in November of the previous year.
