Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, shared his views on US President Donald Trump and his administration in a Sunday interview with the media of the Russian Defence Ministry.

Lavrov depicted Trump as a "pragmatist," and his associates, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as "absolutely reasonable people."

Lavrov also addressed the issue of European forces in Ukraine, calling such discussions "brazen." He emphasized that Russia is not consulted on this matter, which he finds unacceptable.

Trump's meeting with Zelensky

On Friday, a meeting took place at the White House between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Initially, the talks were conducted in a positive atmosphere, but they concluded with a dispute.

Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance accused Zelensky of a lack of gratitude and respect for the USA, which resulted in the collapse of discussions on ending the war in Ukraine and the Ukrainian delegation's exit from the White House.

Lavrov commended Trump for his "proper" behaviour, stressing that Trump's slogan "common sense" signifies a shift to a different approach.
