It happened while you slept. Here’s what global agencies reported from Monday night to Tuesday.

  • The conversation between presidential candidate Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk on the X platform started with almost a 45-minute delay. Musk stated that the technical issues were caused by a massive hacking attack on the platform. The conversation, advertised by Trump's team as "the biggest interview in history," was supposed to start at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, but for over half an hour, users were unable to join the broadcast.
  • More than 435 kilograms of heroin were seized by Bulgarian authorities. According to the local prosecutor's office, a huge amount of the drug was found in a container at the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Burgas.
  • On the Norwegian Arctic Archipelago of Svalbard, a record August temperature of 20 degrees Celsius was noted on Sunday – reported the Norwegian Meteorological Institute on Monday. The absolute temperature record for this archipelago was set on 25 July 2020 and stood at 21.7 degrees Celsius.
  • A record temperature was also noted in the United Kingdom. 34.8 degrees Celsius was recorded on Monday afternoon in Cambridge, making it the highest temperature in the UK this year – reported the Met Office. According to meteorologists, Monday was the peak of the heatwave that had lasted for several days, and temperatures are now expected to start dropping.
