Reuters and Spectrum News, citing representatives from Biden and Harris's election campaign, reported that Kamala Harris has agreed to a debate with Senator J.D. Vance. The debate is scheduled to take place on either July 23, August 12, or August 13.

According to Reuters and Spectrum News, Harris accepted CBS's invitation to a vice-presidential debate in May before it was known who Donald Trump would choose as his running mate.

At that time, she agreed to the proposed dates of July 23 and August 13. The additional date of August 12 has been added, but the candidates have not yet finalized the details.

Harris's rival, Senator J.D. Vance, announced Tuesday that he would like to face the vice president in a debate. Harris and Vance were also supposed to discuss this topic on Tuesday, but specifics were not addressed.

Media debut for the senator from Ohio

On Wednesday, Vance will appear at the Republican convention in Milwaukee to formally accept the party's nomination for vice president.

A survey released on Tuesday by Ipsos and Reuters shows that nearly half of Americans have never heard of the senator from Ohio. Among those who know him, negative opinions (30%) outweigh positive ones (24%).

Since Vance was selected as the candidate on Monday, Biden and Harris's campaign has focused its efforts on portraying him as a political extremist, citing his statements about deciding to overturn the 2020 election results and his support for a nationwide abortion ban.
