Films and series about famous individuals enjoy immense popularity. The series "The Crown," chronicling the British royal family, has captivated Netflix viewers. Similar buzz surrounds productions about artists, politicians, actors, fashion designers, and musicians. Just consider the numerous films focused on Elvis Presley to grasp the phenomenon of delving into the private lives of public figures.

Has Angela Merkel become a private detective?

In 2023, the series "Miss Merkel - Ein Uckermark-Krimi" debuted, portraying the story of Angela Merkel after her retirement. According to the show's description, the creators stated: "After stepping down as chancellor, she moved with her husband and dog to a small town in Uckermark. Initially, it's challenging for her to leave behind the hustle and bustle of city life and politics. But then a death occurs. The former chancellor finally has a new mission."

In "Miss Merkel - Ein Uckermark-Krimi," Angela Merkel assumes the role of a private detective who unravels the mystery of Baron Philip von Baugenwit’s death. Although reviews suggest mediocrity, with an average rating of 5.4 stars out of 10, Italian television opted to secure the broadcasting rights for the series.
