The Israeli website Nziv, known for its military analyses, published a report that sparked tensions between Egypt and Israel. The article described a hypothetical war scenario in which Israel would attack the Aswan High Dam, which is one of the two significant dams on the Nile River. It is located near the city of Aswan in Egypt.

The Aswan High Dam, built in 1971 with the support of the Soviet Union, is a key part of Egypt's infrastructure. It regulates the flow of the Nile River, prevents floods, and produces approximately 3 billion kWh of energy annually.

According to the Polish Press Agency, Egyptian politicians reacted with outrage to the publication. Mostafa Bakry, an Egyptian parliamentarian, warned that in the event of armed conflict, the Egyptian armed forces could quickly reach Tel Aviv. A similar stance was taken by Saada al-Figi, a former undersecretary of one of the ministries, who threatened to destroy the Israeli nuclear reactor if Egypt were threatened.

Although the scenario presented by Nziv was purely theoretical, some Egyptian politicians considered it a real threat. However, not everyone took the matter seriously. Major General Osama Mahmud Kbeir stated that the portal's speculations are absurd and should not be taken seriously.

Tensions between Israel and Egypt

Relations between Egypt and Israel are currently tense, further exacerbated by the conflict in the Gaza Strip . Egypt condemned Israeli actions in the territory and rejected US requests to accept displaced residents of Gaza in the Sinai.

The publication by the Nziv portal, although theoretical, caused real tensions, showing how delicate the relations between these two countries are, in a region where any spark could lead to a widespread conflict.
