On the last day of the National Republican Party Congress, Hulk Hogan, the 70-year-old former wrestler, appeared. He started his speech by commenting on the energy in the arena. “When I came here today, this hall had so much energy. I thought I might be at Madison Square Garden and getting ready to win another world championship title,” he said.
Spectacular display of respect
The athlete began to talk about the Saturday assassination attempt on Donald Trump. “As an artist, I tried to stay away from politics, but after everything that has happened in our country over the past four years and last weekend, I can no longer stay silent,” he said.
“I am here tonight because I want the world to know that Donald Trump is a true American hero and I am proud to support my hero, the next president of the United States,” Hogan added.
“What happened last week when they shot my hero and tried to kill the next president of the United States? Enough is enough. Let Trumpmania make America great again,” Hogan shouted, then tore his shirt. Underneath, he had a red sleeveless shirt with the names of Trump and J.D. Vance, the vice-presidential candidate.
“I didn’t come here as Hulk Hogan, but I had to give you a taste of who I am,” he said afterward.
The wrestler also called Trump “the greatest patriot” and said, "when he returns to the White House, America will start winning again!”
Hogan also referred to the former president’s recent court cases. “They threw everything at Donald Trump: all the investigations, impeachments, court cases, and he still stands and kicks their butts,” the athlete said.
