On July 13, during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, an attempt was made on Donald Trump's life. A 20-year-old named Thomas Crooks shot at the former U.S. president, wounding him in the ear. The assailant was shot dead.
It is not known why the 20-year-old decided to attempt an assassination on the Republican Party candidate. However, what is certain is that the Secret Service, responsible for Trump’s protection, utterly failed. They were aware of the threat before the assassination attempt but did not prevent it. Investigators are working to understand why this happened.
Attempt on Donald Trump's life. New information about the 20-year-old
New information about the assailant is coming to light. It was recently reported that the 20-year-old Thomas Crooks had been searching online for information about how President John F. Kennedy's assassin operated. Posts he allegedly made on social media have now been published.
According to the Daily Mail, Gab social network CEO Andrew Torba reported that Crooks might have posted opinions on the platform supporting the policies of the sitting President Joe Biden. The site’s head obtained this information from authorities. The 20-year-old supposedly posted under the username @epicmicrowave, although the Gab CEO could not confirm this. The account was last active in 2021.
Nine posts were published from the profile. From their content, it appears the user supported Biden's policies, including those on the pandemic and migration. The user claimed that the president’s actions do not contribute to increased crime related to human trafficking.
Biden's executive orders don't incentivize human trafficking as human trafickers aren't interested in citizenship, likewise the majority of illegal immigrants are not criminals, and in fact some studies (such as the one linked below) show lower rates of crime committed by these individuals - wrote the user, who is allegedly the assailant.
Despite this, there is still no certainty about Thomas Crooks' political views. Surprisingly, such a young person was almost absent online, which only fuels conspiracy theories around the attempt on Trump’s life.
