Identifying the sources of water accumulation in the refrigerator is the first step towards finding a solution. Water most often gathers on the back wall and in the refrigerator compartments, and this issue typically affects models that don't have a No Frost system. Usually, the culprit is a clogged defrost drain.

Unclogging the drain - why is it so important?

First, locate the drain, a small hole connected to the drain tube. It is found at the back of the fridge, above the vegetable drawer. A drain clearing tool is useful for restoring water flow.

Don't have a drain clearing tool? You can use a wire instead, but avoid toothpicks, which can cause damage.

Using a special solution and maintaining seals

If simple methods fail, it's advisable to prepare a solution of water and baking soda. Introduce it into the tube using a syringe, working slowly until water starts to appear in the drip tray. This indicates that the drain has been successfully unclogged.

The refrigerator door seal can also be a source of the problem if it becomes porous or stiff over time. It's advisable to clean it thoroughly, dry it, and then lubricate it with an appropriate product or lip balm to ensure the doors close properly.

By following these steps, you can address the issue of water accumulating in the refrigerator yourself, saving the cost of a technician's visit.
