Houthi missile and drone assault targets USS Truman
Yemeni Houthi rebels attacked the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern part of the Red Sea. The attack was carried out using two missiles and four drones. The group claims the operation foiled a planned U.S. attack on Yemen.
The Yemeni Houthi rebels, known as the "Ansar Allah" movement, conducted an attack on the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, located in the northern part of the Red Sea, reports "Kommersant". According to information provided by the Russian service, the attack was carried out using two cruise missiles and four drones.
A representative of the Houthis, Yahya Saria, argued that the attack took place at a time when the American armed forces were preparing for a large raid on Yemen. According to him, the rebels' operation thwarted the planned U.S. air force attack.
As reported by "Kommersant," another three drones attacked a military facility in the city of Jaffa, and another drone was directed at a "key facility" of the Israeli army in Ashkelon.
United States Central Command did not confirm reports of an attack on the aircraft carrier. The Israeli army also did not report any attacks on its military facilities.
Previously, on December 28 at 10 a.m. ET, "Ansar Allah" announced a missile attack on the Israeli Nevatim airbase in the Negev Desert using a "Palestine-2" ballistic missile.
