Aphids are insects that can attack almost any plant, although they have their preferences. Their rapid reproduction and ability to transmit various diseases make it necessary to act quickly. Here are the most effective homemade methods to help save your dill crops.
Onions for aphids. Dill will become resistant to them
It is believed that one of the best preparations for aphids is an onion solution. It can be safely used on all plants, including dill. Preparation is simple: chop one large onion (or two small ones) into fine pieces, put them in a small or medium-sized pot, and cover with 1 litre of water.
Boil the solution for about 30 minutes. After it cools, strain it through a sieve and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the plants infested by aphids.
When other methods fail, reach for vinegar and soap
Another popular method is a vinegar solution. In this case, 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) of vinegar should be diluted in 1 litre of water, maintaining a 1:10 ratio. Pour the ready-made solution into a spray bottle and use it on the infested dill.
Another effective method is to use grey soap. You will need 150 to 300 grams (5-11 oz) of soap dissolved in 10 litres of warm or boiling water. When a slightly murky solution is formed, pour it into a spray bottle and spray the infested plants, including dill.
It is worth trying these methods to enjoy fresh, healthy dill during the season. Thanks to them, the yield will be exceptionally abundant.
