Can we only get good Mexican food on vacation in Tulum? Not at all! You can easily prepare a sufficiently excellent and close-to-original burrito at home. Bring out the red beans, ground meat, and spices. It will be delicious—we can promise you that!

Mexican cuisine has become a favourite among Canadians. It features everything we love: distinctive flavours, hearty mixes (even the soups are exceptionally filling!), and spicy seasonings. It's no wonder that more and more often, instead of choosing pizza or Canadian cuisine, we decide to order burritos, tacos, quesadillas, or enchiladas. And among these famous Mexican dishes, one product reigns supreme: tortillas. It's worth writing a few more essential words about them.

Although we are huge fans of corn tortillas—many people consider this variety the healthiest we have written about before—wheat flour tortillas are usually used for making traditional burritos. Where can you find them? No worries, it's the 21st century; you can buy them in any larger grocery store. Once you've got them, you can embark on the much-anticipated culinary journey to the land of mariachi and beautiful Gulf beaches. And, of course, burritos!

  1. Finely chop the chilli, garlic, and onion. Sauté these ingredients in a small amount of preheated oil. Then add the ground meat—season with salt, pepper, sweet paprika, and herbs.
  2. After a few minutes of frying, add the drained beans and corn, and after a moment, the passata and pepper paste. Heat everything together for about 10 minutes.
  3. Grate the yellow cheese and sprinkle a little on each tortilla. Add the fried mixture and wrap the tortillas reasonably tightly.
  4. This prepared burrito needs one last step. Grill the wrapped tortillas on each side in a grill pan. Now your Mexican feast is ready. Enjoy!
