Homemade hamburger soup: A creative twist on comfort food
Why venture out for unhealthy (and increasingly pricey) fast food when you can whip up hamburger soup at home? Does it sound contentious? Scandalous? Is the recipe outrageous? Not at all! Have a look and decide for yourself.
What can’t people invent? It's a good thing because the limits of creativity are only in our minds. Occasionally, I have reviewed, recommended, or sometimes advised against various recipes and cooking tips. So, when I discovered a hamburger soup recipe from the depths of the internet, I felt compelled to share my thoughts on it with you.
You might wonder what this daunting hamburger soup is. Is it broth cooked with burger meat? Or does it include a chopped fast-food sandwich? None of the above. The shocking name conceals a mystery, but not a big one. The recipe pragmatically uses ingredients well-known from hamburgers: beef, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and ketchup. Note: It tastes pretty good, and the heartiness of this dish is indeed wonderful. I highly recommend it!
Hamburger Soup
Ingredients:
- 1.2 litres of broth,
- 680 grams of beef,
- 1 onion,
- 2 peppers,
- 400 grams of chopped tomatoes,
- 3 carrots,
- 3 cloves of garlic,
- 3 potatoes,
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup,
- salt,
- pepper,
- oregano,
- 100 grams of block cheese.
Method of preparation:
- Let’s start by chopping. Cut the beef into strips, the onion into slices, and the peppers and potatoes into cubes. Peel and grate the carrots and press the garlic.
- Then, heat some fat in a heavy-bottomed pot and fry the onion, garlic, and beef.
- After a moment, add the rest of the ingredients and drizzle ketchup over them. Don’t forget to stir. After a few minutes, pour the broth and cook the soup until the vegetables are tender.
- Season to taste with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Finally, for the finishing touch: cheese. Hamburger soup should be served with a small amount of grated cheese on top. Enjoy!
