They are perfect as an addition to lunchboxes and are adored by both children and adults. This recipe is a hit in my family, and I am delighted to serve something delicious and quite healthy to my loved ones.

Homemade crunchy sticks

Homemade sticks with cottage cheese are a delicious snack and a great way to provide your body with valuable nutrients. Store-bought ones are not bad, but they simply can't compare to homemade ones. You know exactly what you are eating and avoid artificial additives or excess salt.

Cottage cheese is rich in protein, calcium, and B vitamins, essential for the proper functioning of the body. By adding whole grain flour, you enrich the sticks with fibre, which improves the digestive system.

Sticks with cottage cheese - A simple recipe for a healthy snack

The preparation is really simple, but I warn you right away—they disappear so quickly that it's better to prepare a double portion. Adults crunch them at work, kids eagerly eat them from lunchboxes, and they are always a hit at parties.

This is a "by eye" recipe because it's best to check in the oven if the sticks have browned. The cooking time depends on how thick the dough sticks will be. The thinner the sticks, the faster they will bake.

Ingredients:

            
  • About 1 cup of cottage cheese,
  • 1 tablespoon of butter,
  • About 2 cups of whole wheat or all-purpose flour,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt,
  • Favourite spices (e.g., dried garlic, oregano, sesame seeds).

Preparation:

            
  1. Crush the cottage cheese with a fork; melt the butter in a small pot.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, butter, flour, and salt. Knead the dough by hand, adding flour gradually until you achieve a smooth and elastic ball. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
  3. Form the dough into a roll, then cut it into equal pieces. Roll out each piece into a thin stick.
  4. Sprinkle the sticks with your favourite spices and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake in an oven preheated to 350°F until they are golden brown.

You can serve them with your favourite dip, e.g., garlic or tomato. I recommend baking slightly thicker sticks so it’s easier to scoop the sauce. Enjoy!
