Facing numerous allegations, the filmmaker is undergoing treatment at Rikers Island prison in New York. The same news about Weinstein's health condition was first reported by NBC News.
In the latest statement, Harvey Weinstein's spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, expressed concern over the fact that private information about Weinstein's health, who is battling chronic myeloid leukemia, has become public. Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein's prison consultant and authorized legal representative for healthcare in New York State, spoke in a similar tone.
It is both troubling and unacceptable that such private and confidential health issues have become the subject of public discussion. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein's privacy, we will not provide further comments – Rothfeld said in a statement to CNN.

The 72-year-old also struggles with other health issues. He recently underwent emergency heart surgery, during which - according to his lawyer, Arthur Aidala - he almost died. Besides heart issues, Weinstein also suffers from diabetes.
Facing allegations, the former producer has been appearing in court for several years now with the help of a special walker. Harvey Weinstein maintains his innocence. Furthermore, the New York Court of Appeals overturned the 2020 conviction, citing procedural errors. The court found that the testimonies of three accusers, who were not directly related to the charges, should not have been considered. As a result of this decision, Weinstein is awaiting a new trial, which is set to begin in early 2025.
