Eight movies are not the same as seven seasons, right? "Harry Potter" fans must envision this: at least six one-hour episodes, plenty of skipped details, refreshed special effects, and the return of favourite characters.
There are reasons to rejoice—of course, the question of whether the production will meet expectations (and the "Harry Potter" fandom can be very demanding) will be seen later. It's not worth celebrating prematurely, but excitement is allowed.
Who will take on the golden trio? Who will get the iconic role of Albus Dumbledore? How will Voldemort be portrayed? Will we finally get the backstory of the Gaunt family? Will the series feature Ludo Bagman, Winky, Charlie Weasley, or other forgotten characters? These questions remain unanswered, but MAX has informed us of some secrets. We now know a little more about the upcoming "Harry Potter."
"Harry Potter" - we know the director and showrunner of the MAX series
"All aboard the Hogwarts Express! Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod will executive produce the new HBO Original Series, Harry Potter, with Gardiner serving as showrunner and Mylod directing multiple episodes. Coming soon to MAX," - reads the official press release.
If these names are unfamiliar to you, it only seems that way. Both Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod collaborated on the hit show "Succession." Additionally, Gardiner is responsible for "Killing Eve" and "His Dark Materials." Mylod directed episodes of "Game of Thrones," "Shameless," and "The Last of Us,” among others.
MAX promises that "Harry Potter" will be as faithful an adaptation of J.K. Rowling's saga as possible. The exact premiere date of the first season is still unknown.
