Experts in communications discovered that Russian drones emit mysterious green beams visible at night over Ukraine. This phenomenon raised concerns among Ukrainian soldiers, who reported their observations to communications expert Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov. The mysterious lights were only seen at night, moving or staying in one place without making any noise.
Mysterious lights over Ukraine
After intensive research and reports from numerous witnesses, it was determined that the observed phenomenon is caused by Z-16 type drones operated by the Russian army. These UAVs are equipped with a modern module from Zala, which includes night vision and the Z-16IRQ-V/L laser target designator. Such devices are primarily used for targeting in artillery systems and guided bombs and missiles, including the "Krasnopol" artillery shell, "KAB-500L" bombs, and "Kitolow-2" and X-38MLAE missiles.
The appearance of green beams is associated with the danger resulting from the high precision of these drones' guidance systems, which pose a serious threat on the battlefield. On the other hand, the visibility of the laser beam in Russian technology indicates a potential flaw in the system, which could reveal the drone's presence.
Nevertheless, the fact that the green beam is visible may require further technical analysis of downed drones to understand the causes of this anomaly. Defence Express notes that although laser illumination technology is relatively rarer in the Russian army than in NATO armies, its effectiveness and precision pose a significant challenge on the modern battlefield.
Z-16 drones
The Z-16 is a versatile drone, offering a wide range of functions tailored to different needs – from photography and videography to monitoring large areas. The Z-16 drone stands out primarily with its long-lasting battery, which allows it to move and operate in the air for over 40 minutes on a single charge. This is an exception among drones in this price category.
The modern stabilization and autopilot systems used in the device make it possible for the user to rely on precise and smooth recordings, even in difficult weather conditions. The camera mounted on the Z-16 model has a 4K resolution with the ability to record in slow motion mode, making it an ideal tool for multimedia content creators.
