Germany boosts Ukraine's arsenal with AI combat drones
Germany is starting to deliver 4,000 AI-controlled combat drones to Ukraine. The Mini-Tauruses can fly a distance of about 30 to 40 kilometres and will be "an important asset for the Ukrainian armed forces."

Germany has begun delivering 4,000 AI-controlled combat drones to Ukraine. This significant support follows a June declaration by the German Minister of National Defence, Boris Pistorius.
In September, the German company Helsing signed a contract with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence to deliver so-called strike drones, also known as mini-Tauruses. As reported by the "Bild" newspaper portal on Monday, the drones are equipped with advanced software that makes them resistant to electronic interference.
Mini-Taurus drones, capable of penetrating about 30 to 40 kilometres into enemy territory, are expected to be "an important asset for the Ukrainian armed forces," particularly in attacking logistical chains and command posts. Minister Pistorius, quoted by the Tagesschau portal, emphasized this.
The name mini-Taurus refers to the Taurus cruise missile with a range exceeding about 500 kilometres, which Ukraine has repeatedly requested. Despite Kyiv's appeals, the German government has rejected the possibility of delivering these long-range missiles.
AI-controlled drones represent a technological advancement in modern warfare, offering increased capabilities on the battlefield. Their introduction aims to strengthen Ukraine's defence efforts amidst ongoing conflicts.
