Fierce wildfires spread across Turkey and Greece amid strong winds
A fire broke out in the province of Izmir in Turkey. Due to strong winds, the fire began to spread quickly. Photos and videos showing the enormity of the tragedy are appearing online.

The fire is raging in the province of Izmir. The road connecting the Selçuk and the resort town of Kuşadası has been closed. The fire has also appeared in the resort town of Çeşme and along the highway connecting İzmir with Çeşme. The situation is serious, and photos and videos can be seen online.
Smoke plumes are visible from afar.
Residents are warning that the fire is getting bigger.
Fire also in Greece
On Saturday, approximately 200 firefighters were battling a large forest fire in the Parnitha mountain range north of Athens. About 50 fires broke out in Greece that day, and half of the country is in a high-risk fire zone.
Authorities assured Reuters by the evening that the fire near Athens had subsided, but around 200 firefighters, supported by firefighting planes, are still battling it. Strong winds, with gusts exceeding 60 mph, are hindering the operation.
