TikTok baker @sophiebakas recently revealed how to make adorable candy cane-shaped cookies, which are straightforward to prepare. They require only a few simple steps to master.
Cookie recipe - Candy canes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of softened butter,
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar,
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar (optional),
- 2/3 cup of powdered sugar,
- 1 egg,
- 3 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- red food colouring.
Preparation:
- Cream the softened butter with the sugars.
- Add the egg and mix the ingredients.
- Sift the flour and salt, then knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into two parts and add red food colouring to one half.
- Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. After chilling, preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Measure about 15 centimetres of each coloured dough. Gently roll them into shapes measuring 10 centimetres. Twist them together and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until they are ready.
- Ensure the cookies have cooled on a rack before serving.
