Ferry and barge collision in Hamburg injures 11, one critical

In the port of Hamburg, a ferry collided with a barge, resulting in 11 people being injured. One person is in a life-threatening condition.

On Monday morning, a serious accident occurred in the port of Hamburg. A cruise ferry collided with a barge on the Elbe River, causing a side of the ship to break off.

Germany. Ferry accident. There are injured

As a result of this incident, 11 people were injured, and one of them sustained life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred around 6:43 a.m. Eastern Time, near the Köhlbrand Bridge in the southwestern part of Hamburg. Despite serious damage, the ferry reached the dock. German water police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Hamburg, the largest seaport in Germany, is one of the busiest in Europe. It is located on the Elbe River, about 100 kilometres from its mouth into the North Sea.
