Pruning oleander in the fall is essential if we want it to impress us with its blooms during the spring and summer seasons. However, not everyone realizes the numerous benefits this can bring us. Here are some suggestions to consider.

Pruning oleander in the fall - why is it so important?

Oleanders can be a beautiful addition to the garden. However, it's crucial to know how to care for them properly. Not everyone knows that one of the key care activities includes pruning them in the fall. This procedure not only removes old, damaged shoots but also helps the plants cope better with winter weather conditions. Indeed, it helps to strengthen them a bit.

We can also easily shape the oleander by trimming it as desired. Interestingly, the cut shoots root easily, providing us with the opportunity to cultivate another plant in the garden.

How to prune oleander? It's very simple. Measure about 10 to 15 centimetres above where the side branches grow, and then use a well-sharpened pruner to remove unnecessary shoots.

Is oleander poisonous?

Oleander is a beautiful plant that typically blooms from May to September. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware that it is poisonous. Caution should be exercised with all its parts, from roots to flowers, as they contain toxic substances, such as cardiac glycosides, which can cause serious health problems or even be fatal.

This plant is also extremely harmful to animals, so it is best not to grow it in areas where pets can access it.
