The National Guard of Ukraine's Special Forces Brigade 'Azov' has shared material demonstrating the unusual tactics of Russian soldiers in Donbas.

The video shows Russians assaulting Ukrainian positions using electric scooters. The footage is believed to come from the village of Torets in the Kramatorsk area of Donetsk Oblast.

New tactics on the front line

Russians on the front line are employing various means of transportation, such as scooters and buggies. In June, the Russian army introduced motorcycles; however, they proved ineffective because they became easy targets for Ukrainian drones.

The combat effectiveness of electric scooters is still unknown, but using them might have some advantages. Scooters are quiet, inexpensive, and can quickly traverse sections of the front line. They can be easily abandoned in case of danger.

Scooters on the front: used in an assassination

The discussion about scooters has arisen in another context. On December 17, a bomb attached to a scooter killed General Igor Kirillov, the commander of the Russian radiological, chemical, and biological defence forces.

"Kirillov was a war criminal and an absolutely legitimate target since he gave orders to use banned chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military. Such an inglorious end awaits all who kill Ukrainians. Retribution for war crimes is inevitable," emphasized an Interfax-Ukraine source.

General Kirillov was known, among other things, for conducting briefings for the Russian Ministry of Defence since 2023. During these briefings, he claimed that the United States was involved in a biological weapons development program in Ukraine. He asserted, among other things, that the USA developed a method involving the release of "disease-carrying mosquitoes" toward opposing troops, as reported by Telegram channels Meduza and Krymsky Veter.
