Effective grout cleaning: Homemade remedies that work
Scrubbing grout for hours and still not looking clean? There's a solution. Trying out effective methods to eliminate mold and dirt will solve the problem.
Grout plays a key role in the aesthetics and functionality of our tiled floors and walls. Its job is not only to join the tiles but also to protect the surface from moisture penetration.
Over time, dirt, mould, and deposits accumulate on it, which not only spoil the appearance but can also be a source of bacteria and fungi. Fortunately, there is an effective way to remove dirt and restore the shine to the grout.
Homemade grout cleaning paste
Baking soda is one of the most effective and versatile ingredients you can find in your kitchen or pantry. It works not only in making delicious baked goods but is also great for cleaning. How do you do it?
Preparing homemade paste for cleaning grout is simple. Just mix about 150 millilitres of baking soda with a few tablespoons of lukewarm water. The mixture should form a thick paste. It's best to apply it with a toothbrush and gently scrub in circular motions to thoroughly clean all nooks and crannies.
This homemade solution effectively deals with stubborn dirt and mould even in hard-to-reach places. If you want to be even more effective, you can add a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture. The fruit not only leaves a fresh scent after cleaning but its high natural acid content enhances the disinfecting effect.
Another way to keep grout clean
An effective method for cleaning tiles is using toilet cleaner. Just mix about 500 millilitres of toilet cleaner with the same amount of water and use this mixture to scrub the grout with a sponge or soft brush.
Toilet cleaning liquid is a strong solution that easily eliminates accumulated bacteria and mould. It can be extremely effective in dealing with stubborn stains, dissolving them in moments. However, remember to always use protective gloves, as the agent can cause skin burns.
