During fall and winter, spiders seek safe shelter from frost and rain. They enter homes through windows and ventilation grates. Although it is not always easy to deter them effectively, you don't need to buy specialized products. There are several simple, proven, and cost-effective methods to get rid of them ecologically. If you're unfamiliar with these methods, now is a good time to learn before the cold weather arrives.
How to deter spiders in the fall?
Spiders appear more frequently in homes during the fall when their mating season begins. They stay until it warms up again. However, you can prevent this by using proven methods to deter them.
The first and very inexpensive method is using baking soda. Baking soda is available in every grocery store, so there will definitely be no problem finding it. Simply sprinkle baking soda in places where spiders are most frequent and on windowsills to discourage their entry through windows. This ensures these small arachnids don't get close.
Another equally simple trick is using a vinegar and water solution. Mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups (approximately 500 ml) of water. Spray the resulting liquid in areas where spiders appear. This should also keep them away.

Baking soda and the vinegar-water mix are not the only solutions. Fans of essential oils, such as lavender, peppermint, citrus, or tea tree oil, can also use them to combat spiders. Add seven drops of your chosen oil to 500 ml (approximately 17 fl oz) of water. Then mix it with one teaspoon of dish soap and pour it into a spray bottle. Shake the bottle well. Spray all windowsills, corners, and crevices in the house.
