In the case of non-compliance, a fine of up to $125 could be imposed. It turns out there is also a problem when it comes to properly disposing of the Christmas tree after the holidays. Here's some advice on what to do with it.
Where to dispose of your Christmas tree?
After the holidays, we face the rather sad task of saying goodbye to the Christmas tree. Those who opted for an artificial tree can easily fold it up and store it for use next year. Unfortunately, with a real tree, it becomes a bit more problematic. Fortunately, there are several ways to get rid of it.
Before disposing of the Christmas tree, it's a good idea to remove all decorations. If you've chosen a potted version, it should be taken out of the pot, and you should get rid of the soil as well. The pot cover should be placed in the plastic waste container.
It's also advisable to remove the tree roots. Most often, real trees are placed near trash containers. Smaller trees can be placed in the organic waste container. Larger ones should be cut into pieces first. Sometimes, building managers organize tree collections on a specific day when they are picked up by professional companies.
It’s also worth remembering that live Christmas trees can be planted in your garden. Before spring arrives, when it can be done, the tree should be stored outside. Don’t forget to protect it from frost and water it. This way, you not only decorate your property a bit but also take care of the environment.
