Delicious dinner idea: Elevate your meal with marinated chicken wings
Do chicken wings remind you only of a visit to a fast-food restaurant? It's worth changing that perspective because this part of the poultry can easily become the highlight of a delicious and nutritious dinner. I want to share a simple recipe that my whole family loves.

While chicken meat is a common dinner choice in Canadian homes, we usually prepare meals using breasts or thighs. Wings are often overlooked, but there are no rational reasons for this. This part of the poultry is high in protein, rich in iron, zinc, and B vitamins, and it's pleasantly — although not excessively — fatty. It's worth incorporating wings into your dinner rotation, and a good recipe will help you do just that.
What spices to use for chicken wings?
Personally, I think wings blend perfectly with three flavour profiles: a bit of sweetness, spiciness, and herbs. Achieving these flavours is easy when you use a marinade. I prepare mine with honey, chili, and fresh herbs, mainly rosemary and thyme. I combine everything with one more ingredient that harmonizes excellently with the rest — wine.
When I first tried this recipe, I didn't expect my family to like it so much. I thought these chicken wings would be just my snack. Now, I know otherwise and plan to prepare larger portions. I advise you to do the same — right away!
Chicken wings – An idea for a delicious dinner
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of chicken wings,
- 2 tablespoons of honey,
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 4 cloves of garlic,
- salt,
- 1 teaspoon of chili,
- 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika,
- a few sprigs of rosemary,
- a few sprigs of thyme,
- 5 fluid ounces of red wine,
- 1 lemon.
Preparation:
- You can serve the wings whole or in parts. If you prefer smaller pieces, cut them at the joints. Then, rub the meat thoroughly with salt.
- In a separate dish, mix the olive oil with pressed garlic, honey, lemon juice and zest, pepper, and chopped herbs.
- Put the wings into the prepared marinade. Keep them there for at least a few hours. Optimally, let them marinate overnight.
- After marinating, transfer the chicken wings to a baking dish and put them in an oven preheated to 390°F. After about 15 minutes, pour the wine over the meat. The total baking time should be approximately 35 minutes. Bon appétit!
