Dagestan mourns 12 lives lost in tragic gas station explosion
In Dagestan, an autonomous republic within the Russian Federation, a tragic event has shaken the local community. As a result of an explosion at a gas station, 12 people, including two children, lost their lives, and 23 people were injured. Regional authorities immediately responded to this tragedy by declaring a day of mourning.

The tragic events unfolded on Friday, September 27, at a gas station located on the road leaving the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala. A powerful explosion shook the area, causing immediate fatalities and many injuries.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, twelve people, including two children, died. Twenty-three people were hospitalized with various injuries.
Rescue services were immediately dispatched to the scene for a rescue operation. The scale of the destruction and injuries was enormous, significantly complicating the work of the rescue teams.
Power supply disruptions
Dagenergo, the energy company, reported that nearby energy facilities were damaged as a result of the explosion, leading to disruptions in power supply.
Investigation and legal actions
The Dagestan Investigative Committee immediately took steps to clarify the causes of this tragedy. Criminal proceedings were initiated based on the article regarding the provision of services not meeting safety requirements, which led to the death of two or more people. At this stage, investigators are examining whether the explosion was due to technical neglect or any violations of safety standards.
To honour the memory of the victims, local authorities in Dagestan declared September 28 a day of mourning in the region.
