Green beans in a crunchy coating are the perfect summer snack. They taste so good that no one will miss chips, pretzels, or even fries. It's best to prepare a large portion immediately because they disappear so quickly that you better not blink.

Green beans are a summer classic that I wait for all year round. We often prepare them with breadcrumbs, serving them as a side dish for dinner. However, green beans have other facets too. After the hit recipe for French-style green beans, it's time for crunchy beans in a coating.

If you've never fried green beans, it's high time to change that. This crunchy snack is perfect for a movie night, cheering together, a family feast, or a gathering with friends. Just add your favourite dip, like garlic sauce, and enjoy the crunch.

Preparing these green bean fries is much easier than you might think. It’s best to choose green string beans, as they are firmer than yellow beans and become crunchier after frying.

Recipe for green beans in a crunchy coating

Crunchy green beans are a great snack or addition to dinner. They crunch delightfully, and guests are always thrilled with such an appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of green string beans
  • 1 egg
  • 120 millilitres of milk
  • 250 grams of wheat flour
  • 120 grams of breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot paprika
  • Provençal herbs
  • Oil for frying

Preparation method:

  1. Blanch the green string beans by dipping them in boiling water for about 2 minutes.
  2. Immediately after removing from boiling water, transfer the beans to a bowl with ice water.
  3. Drain the beans and dry them with a paper towel.
  4. Put flour in one bowl, beat the egg in another, and place breadcrumbs in a third. You can mix it in a 1:1 ratio with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Add salt, pepper, hot paprika, and Provençal herbs to the egg bowl and mix.
  6. Coat the green beans in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs.
  7. Fry the green beans in oil until they turn golden brown.
  8. After frying, place them on a plate lined with a paper towel to remove excess fat.

Serve the fried green beans warm with your favourite sauces. Enjoy your meal!
