On Wednesday in the town of Cetinje, a dramatic shooting took place in one of the local cafés. As a result of the attack, at least eight people, including two children, were killed, and several others were injured.

The condition of four people who were injured is reported to be very serious, according to RTCG television.

The perpetrator, a 45-year-old man, used a firearm and then fled the scene. Police are conducting an intensive search and are urging residents to stay indoors.

Search for the perpetrator

The Montenegrin police issued a statement emphasizing that the incident is not related to organized crime groups. Special police units have been dispatched to aid in apprehending the perpetrator.

According to information provided by the public broadcaster RTCG, the Prime Minister of Montenegro has declared a three-day national mourning period.

This is yet another mass shooting in this town. On August 12, 2022, an armed assailant had a family argument, ran into the street, and began shooting at random people. He killed 11 people, including two children, and injured six others.

The assailant was shot by an armed resident of Cetinje. It was the bloodiest mass shooting in Montenegro's history.
